    Default Talking About Wrinkles!

    Wrinkles are a part of living longer. I will exchange feeling good every day for wrinkles any day! That is not to say I will do nothing to try and prevent wrinkles or reduce wrinkles. I most certainly will try.

    Although many products and procedures promise to rid us of wrinkles, few of them actually do.

    Where do wrinkles come from anyway? Skin ages all over the body, and where there has been exposure to the sun is where those wrinkles will appear the most. Those areas include the face, neck, backs of the hands and tops of the forearms. In youth, some people just can't imagine ever becoming old or older, much less having wrinkles too!

    There are two categories of wrinkles:

    * Fine surface lines * And deep furrows.

    Treatment for fine wrinkles is usually wrinkle treatments in the form of creams, lotion, and masks. The deep furrows usually require more aggressive techniques like injection of fillers or even plastic surgery.

    Factors that promote wrinkles are:

    * Smoking

    * Fair Skin Type and people with blue eyes. These types of people burn easily and more prone to sun damage.

    * The way a person wears their hair can affect how much sun exposure they receive. Some hair styles provide cover and protection against the damaging rays of sunlight.

    * The tendency to acquiring wrinkles runs in families. In other words it is "hereditary."

    * If you have been an outdoor person either for an occupation or recreation in activities such as farming, sailing, swimming, golfing, tennis playing, baseball playing you may be more susceptible to wrinkles as you age.

    * If you have been a chronic user of tanning booths, you can expect to see wrinkles most likely starting earlier than normal.

    Two main things we all can do to help prevent wrinkles are to not smoke and take preventative measures to minimize the affects of sun exposure. Keep your skin hydrated by drinking plenty of water daily.

    Once wrinkles begin to appear or have appeared there are several treatments available. These treatments include but are not limited to:

    * Injections * Topical creams * Chemical peels * Laser and electro-surgical resurfacing.

    Why are wrinkles a by-product of the aging process? As we age the skin cells divide more slowly. The inner layer, which is called the dermis, begins to thin. The elastin and collagen fibers that support the outer layer, loosens and causes depression on the surface of the skin. With aging also comes less ability to retain moisture. Oil-secreting glands become less efficient and the skin becomes slower to heal. When all these changes begin to take place, the development of wrinkles begins.

    As with all health problems, if you are considering treatment for your wrinkles, ask your doctor first for guidance about which treatment is right for you. Your doctor's professional advice is what you pay him for......no really....there is just no replacement for your doctor's professional advice. You could spend 100's of dollars even billions of dollars each year on skin care products that promise to erase wrinkles and not reap any kind of a reward. A medial professional in the area of dermatology and wherever else your private physician may lead you is the number one best place to start for treatment. They have already spent a bundle of money learning about skin care and wrinkle treatment. Why should you spend your money trying to experiment with this product and that product? You might end up in the office of a dermatologist anyway from skin irritations and rashes and allergies to the ingredients in the products you experiment with. The simplest way to keep your skin healthy is to stay out of the sun, and/or use the maximum of protection while in the sun and do not smoke.
