Default Additional U.S. Troops Being Sent To Afghanistan

The United States government plans to send an additional 17,000 troops to Afghanistan in order to help stabilize the volatile country. Whether this troop surge will make a difference is yet to be seen but the increase in troops will provide a sense of security for those already in the country, citizens and soldiers alike.

Along with bolstering U.S. troop presence, the government has placed a strong focus on training Afghan troops and building up the strength of Afghanistan's army.

In your opinion, will the extra troops make a significant difference in the war and rebuilding effort, helping Afghanistan reach a level of relative stability? Or will the surge bring little more than a sense of added security?

everyone has crashed and burned in Afghanistan and US is not going to do any better. US bases are forced out of central asia and their strategical position has gone from bad to worse as well. and if Taliban would be in power, their would be a tremendous cutback in heroin production.

You're right the US troops aren't doing much better than any other force that's ever entered afghanistan.
