Default What's your average PIPs profit a month

Hi there, I'm just starting to demo trade and it looks to me that I make too much profit. So here are few questions for those who trade real money:

    1. What is your average number of pips that you gain/profit a month and how many trades you do?

    2. What is your average win/lose ratio in terms of trades for example 20 winning and 5 bad trades.

    3. After a week of trading my win/lose ratio is 7/1 or 410pips/140pips is this good/bad?

    4. I only trade one lot. With this 270pips profit on 8 trades, how much do I have to subtract to know the real profit? There were no next day rollovers so I assume no charges for that, but I'm confused about other charges.

    5. When using MetaTrader platform with demo account what does it mean when instead of "Buy" button there's "Market buy?" It changed by itself and for two days I wouldn't not trade because of very high "stop loss" to "take profit" ratio needed to execute new order.

    6. What would you call my strategy if it's a strategy at all? I look at the minute chart first, then at 5, then at 15 all the way to 1hr. I look for the patterns and the overall trend. Based on that I decide where my stop loss/take profit is. I only concentrate on one currency pair EUR/USD and only trade one lot.

    7. After how many months of practicing were you ready to trade real money?

these are just depends on your own strategy of business.

I had experience to win 3000 in a month, of course, when I am controlling all news etc

There is no fixed time for going to real trade. Just do it when you feel you are ready

But take my advice, don't be greedy any time

At one point I did average a few thousand each month, but now it's dropped to a few hundred to make sure I don't lose money.

Mercury Man, you just learned that Expert Advisors are generally useless. Best learn how to trade yourself.

If you can make an expert that is flexible enough to change strategy with changing market conditions, you may make something worth using, but that would require some serious AI programming, and I'm not sure that's possible with MQL.

During my trading I can say that Long trading is more profitable for me.. And Thats why normally now I use daily chart as my guidance but still combined with 4H and 30 minutes for entry point.

I have tried many times for short trading...but most of the time I made only little pips.

I have been more successful with LONG trades as well, but resently just made a 100+ pips on a short trade that went well, so from my experience either short or long, you just have to read it properly, and know what you are doing.

Although babypips.com says that market tends to fall faster then rise, and I have noticed that, so maybe on short trades one can make money faster? sure looks like that!

Real forex is based on long-term investments

It has less stress and needs a lesser time

I must agree with you 100%, the only thing is that one needs larger margin in orded to trade long term, that's my understanding.

I think EA need backtest very intensive.

Sometime EA with backtest very good but in real very bad.

Need often check...if often got loss...it is better stop.
