    Default ECN Demo Level 2 not working.

    Hi,

    I've been trying out the demo ECN.. but since yesterday or the day before, the level 2 software doesn't work. It says "application cannot be started. Contact the application vendor."

    Please, upload/install new L2 client (http://deep.fxopen.com/publish.htm). We have updated it along with the server side to allow better performance and functionality.

    Thx.. it works now.

    I see a difference though.

    In the old version there was always only 1 row of volume on bid/ask per pair. Now I see that there's more than 1. Can u explain please. Thanks.

    As long as we communicate with different LP's they provide different quotes with different market depths. Plus we add FXOpen quotes (clients' limit orders and market orders TP's). Therefore you see multiple records for bids/asks as a result of quotes aggregation.

    I don't know what u guys have done, but the volume is ALWAYS at 2000 for both bid and ask.

    Earlier it was no more than 2 digit figures and volume for bid and ask were never the same constant value.

    There is nothing useful about your new level 2 anymore.

    It was more useful the way it was earlier.

    As you correctly indicated the volumes for bids/asks are always 2000 since the bank providing these demo quotes always fills in 2000 as volume. Nevertheless you can see other volumes for FXOpen quotes (limit orders/market orders tp's).
    In live environment you should see real volumes.

    So basically what you are saying is that in demo ECN, level 2 is not showing the actual data. So there is no point in using level 2 when testing "demo" ECN because it doesn't show actual market depth information. Is that correct ?

    Basically yes - if you need real l2 then you need to trade on live ECN.
    But advisors debugging and strategy testing can be done on demo ECN as well (market depth is usually deeper than 1 and volumes greater than 0 are present).

    I would really like to demo an ECN account, but....I can't get any login info to login to the level II monitor. I have looked all over the site and found no hint about what a person needs to do. Far as I can tell, you just download the programs and they magically are supposed to work. The MT4 login set itself up without needing any input from me. Anybody have a clue what I missed?

    You need to provide the same login/password to L2 as you use to connect MT4 terminal to demo/live ECN server.

    I tried doing that and it said the login or password was invalid. Any other ideas?

    AH HA! Figured it out. The sever was not changed over to the ECN demo server. That is why MT4 was working fine, but the lvl2 quotes wouldn't login. Alright, thanks for the help! Everything is working properly now.
